What is metadata? Metadata means data about data. Although the definition sounds simple, metadata is anything but. Metadata is used to describe the context, content and structure of materials. Those materials might be books, photographs, archival records, audiotapes, video, etc. Often it is the metadata that is searched thus leading you to the item that you desire. Come learn from Grady just why Metadata is important in the world of genealogy archiving.

Paula Davis from Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane was quoted in the Spokesman Review, August 7, 2011 edition as follows: "The best time to write your own obituary is when you are not only alive but healthy, she said. You can have the last word." There will be hand-outs available for attendees.

According to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) the 1940 census will be released online on April 2, 2012. The digital images will be accessible free of charge at NARA facilities nationwide through their public access computers as well as on personal computers via the internet.
